JCDecaux tests touchscreens in Paris bus shelters

JCDecaux is testing interactive screens in Paris bus shelters.

The French company, one of the world’s biggest outdoor-media owners, has equipped two shelters in the Opéra area with touchscreens providing bus maps and timetables from transport operator RATP, tourist highlights, and information on local restaurants and shops.

It hopes to use the trial, conducted in collaboration with city authorities, to gauge public acceptance of the technology and assess how well it works in the bus-shelter environment.

But JCDecaux stresses that this is not the beginning of a rollout, and that for now it has no plans to install the screens elsewhere in Paris or other cities.
