British, North American trade associations cosy up

Britain’s Screen Forum and North America’s Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA) are taking the first steps in a partnership that is likely to see each of them grow more active in the other’s territory.

The British organisation’s events programme will cross the Atlantic this summer, with the first date on The Screen Forum’s North American calendar being a 22 June breakfast briefing at the Crosby Hotel in New York’s SoHo.

Following the pattern of The Screen Forum’s long-running London breakfast briefings, it will concentrate on a specific topic – in this case the role of DOOH in the transportation sector – and showcase a range of speakers including Rich Ament of CBS Outdoor and Erik Bottema from Kinetic’s airport business Aviator.

The Screen Forum will also establish a North American chapter and offer a preferential membership rate to DSA members. In return, it will promote the DSA’s work to its membership in Europe.

The DSA “shares many of the same key goals as The Screen Forum and this alliance offers both organisations a fantastic platform to reach new audiences”, said Richard Cobbold, chairman of The Screen Forum and founder of Digital View.

The Screen Forum, for its part, “delivers a strong blend of education, community and professionalism – all things this industry needs to firmly embrace as it matures and strengthens its position as mainstream media”, said Stuart Armstrong, president of the DSA and of EnQii North America.

The DSA was created in April through a merger of the Digital Signage Association and Self-Service & Kiosk Association.
