103-inch plasmas for Johannesburg airport

Africa’s busiest airport now has a network of more than 40 giant plasma screens.

OR Tambo International Airport, near Johannesburg in South Africa, has 24 103-inch plasmas in the baggage-claim area, 12 in the departure hall and six after customs.

They will show advertising as well as passenger information.

“Most passengers flying into OR Tambo in Johannesburg will view these monitors,” said Martin Maddox, group MD of Pansolutions, which supplied the Panasonic displays.

The hub of South African Airways, OR Tambo is operated by Airports Company South Africa.
