Multi-user touchscreen greets delegates at ad festival
Many of the world’s top advertising executives will be using an interactive touchscreen developed by one of the biggest agencies at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in the south of France this week.
Schematic, part of the WPP group, has upgraded the 12x5-foot “touch wall” it premiered at last year’s event to showcase the branding possibilities of the medium while also acting as an information hub for festival delegates.
As well as showing the programme of events, 3D maps and local information, it reads visitors’ badges using RFID and provides each with a personal workspace. Multiple simultaneous users are supported by the system, based largely on Microsoft technology.
Schematic will also be using the touch wall to demonstrate branding applications for Nokia and Dell, with audio by Man Made Music.
“In an era of extreme audience fragmentation, the digital out-of-home category stands out as one of the few platforms that can reach a truly mass audience in a meaningful way,” said Trevor Kaufman, CEO of Schematic.
