Water firm uses digital signage to inform staff
UK utility firm Wessex Water has launched an in-house TV channel for its 2500 employees.
Called Source TV, the channel is intended to give workers at the water company in southwestern England a better understanding of the business as a whole, complementing other employee-communications channels such as newsletters and an Intranet. Many are familiar with their own field of work but know little about other activities within the organisation, according to Wessex Water.
Source TV is shown on large LCD displays at the company’s Bath headquarters and in local offices, situated in entrance, breakout and coffee areas to maximise each staffer’s exposure. Content, which can be zoned, mixes Flash, full-motion video, still images, text, RSS and PowerPoint.
The displays also allow mobile engineers, who don’t use computers as regularly as the company’s office workers, to have easier access to Wessex Water news.
The software driving the network comes from Connectvision.
