Dubai office tower to get tallest LED screen
A 100m-high LED screen claimed to be the world’s tallest is to be erected on the side of a new office building in Dubai.
The screen is being built by Daktronics, whose recent work includes a giant display for Lamar Advertising on New York’s Times Square, as well as LED installations at the Argosy casino in Riverside, Missouri and the Grand Lisboa casino in Macao.
Framed in buffed aluminium, the screen on the side of the Podium building in the Dubailand development is expected to be visible 1.5km away. It will carry advertising, messaging and art, according to developer Tameer Holding.
The 35-storey structure will feature two storeys dedicated to retail at ground and mezzanine level, with the bulk of the building given over to office space.
