Los Angeles extends billboard ban

The moratorium on new outdoor-advertising sites in Los Angeles has been extended by a further 45 days to give authorities time to develop a long-term policy.

The ban on new billboards, including digital, was scheduled to expire on 26 March but will now last until 10 May.

Meanwhile, California state transportation authorities have accused World Wide Rush – one of the billboard owners at the heart of the current heated debate over outdoor advertising in LA – of cutting down some two dozen trees near billboards in order to improve their visibility. The firm denies the accusation.
