TrainFX bags contract for passenger info displays

Britain’s TrainFX has secured its first deal to provide in-carriage digital signage for a train operator.

It has signed a £1m ($1.7m) contract with First Great Western to supply and install passenger information systems on two fleets of trains, according to local reports.

The trains serve routes in the Thames Valley, near London.

The contract comes just days after TrainFX’s parent, RAM Investment Group, underlined its interest in the digital out-of-home market by buying the business and assets of ASG Media Group, formerly Avanti Screenmedia.

Train FX itself was acquired by RAM from Vision Media Group in the summer of this year.

RAM’s chairman, Tim Baldwin, has estimated that the UK market for train passenger information systems is worth £35m ($58m).
