China New Media expects fast return from giant LEDs
China New Media Corporation plans to build three more giant LED screens in the northeastern city of Dalian this year, further evidence of the Chinese digital out-of-home market spreading out of the biggest cities into smaller regional centres.
The company is also planning screens on-street and at transportation sites in Shenyang and Tianjin.
In Dalian – where New Year’s Eve revellers recently saw in 2010 with a countdown on a 400-metre-square China New Media screen – the firm plans three new LED displays this year, bringing the total to six. Collectively, it expects them to bring in RMB30m ($4.4m) annually in advertising revenue.
Across the region, it now has a presence at more than 600 bus shelters and 130 taxi stops as well as its large screens. China New Media also holds poster contracts for buses and metro trains.
Advertiser clients include China Mobile, China Unicom, Coca-Cola, Ikea, PepsiCo and UPS.
It also has 50 of its Web-based City Navigator kiosks on Dalian streets.
The company is traded on the U.S. over-the-counter market under the symbol CDMI.
