LocaModa giving away interactive apps
LocaModa is offering free downloads of interactive tools for digital out-of-home networks.
Calling part of its Website an App Store in a nod to Apple’s sales channel for iPhone applications, the company is funding the free software by selling advertising that will display on screens at venues that use the tools. Its App Store will also offer paid-for alternatives on the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
LocaModa’s best-known products include the Wiffiti SMS-to-screen system and the Jumbli game played by text messaging, famously shown on a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square.
Both are available through the App Store, as are plug-and-play modules providing functionality such as Twitter-to-screen, SMS-to-screen, Flickr-to-screen, and polls. Also on offer is integration with third-party services such as Foursquare’s mobile-phone-based social networking and the Web-based Eventful what’s on guide.
The LocaModa App Store categorises apps as suitable for different user sectors such as cafes, restaurants, bars, public spaces, cinemas, convention centres, and retail.
