China New Media plans 100 digital billboards in capital

China New Media is continuing the rapid expansion of its digital-billboard programme with new partnerships in the capital Beijing and the northeastern regional centre Shenyang.

Moving beyond its home territory in Dalian, the firm will work with Beijing Shidai Lianxin Cultural Propagation Co. to build a network of around a hundred large LED displays in commercial districts and airports in and around Beijing.

The screens will mainly show advertising.

Said James Wang, China New Media’s chairman and CEO: “As the political and cultural center of China, Beijing has extensive market resources and strong advertising demand. We believe the Beijing market opportunity provides operational advantages superior to other cities and provides a more secure, higher rate of return on investment.”

In Shenyang, meanwhile, an alliance with the Liaoning Daily Press Group, a newspaper publisher, will see China New Media investing around $6m to install and operate five large LED screens in the city’s business districts and at Shenyang North railway station.

China New Media is traded on the U.S. over-the-counter market under the symbol CDMI.
