Kiosks save time, intrigue workers at Dutch factory

Dutch tyre manufacturer Vredestein has replaced printed notices, bulletin boards and whiteboards at its factory with a series of kiosks, in an effort to reach production staff who don’t have access to a PC while working.

Aided by brand-identity specialist NykampNyboer, the firm has deployed 13 kiosks it calls Quality Corners in work areas, meeting rooms and the company cafeteria.

“The most consulted types of information include 24-hour information and charts on production, and submitted ideas for improving the production process,” said Bandi Vaczi, marketing and communications manager of Vredestein.

As well as improving communications, the centrally-controlled kiosks are said to save about 15 working hours a week – time that was previously spent producing and distributing paper.

They run on Pads Professional digital-signage software from Net Display Systems (NDS).
