Ronin signs NEC as reseller; Remote Media to co-brand

The importance of hardware partners and the reseller channel to digital-signage system vendors was underlined this week by U.S. firm Wireless Ronin and Britain’s Remote Media.

Wireless Ronin has enlisted screen supplier NEC Display Solutions as a reseller, giving the software firm the chance of sales to NEC’s large accounts.

The two firms have long worked together on a series of installations, including the University of Akron, Ohio;

Singapore mall deal takes MediaCorp out-of-home

Singapore’s MediaCorp is using digital out-of-home as its stepping stone into the outdoor market, via a contract to sell advertising on screens in the city state’s new ION Orchard mall.

OOH industry events are among the fastest-growing

Three trade shows covering the digital out-of-home sector have been named among the swiftest-growing in North America.

Exponation’s Digital Signage Expo, InfoComm International, and JD Events’ KioskCom Self Service Expo/The Digital Signage Show all made the Fastest 50 list compiled by Tradeshow Week magazine.

JCDecaux would acquire Clear Channel Outdoor or CBS Outdoor in order to move into the U.S. billboard market and claim the title of world’s biggest out-of-home company, according to its chief executive.

AirMedia builds network at new Beijing terminal

Chinese out-of-home specialist AirMedia Group is extending its hold on the country’s airports with the addition of 600 digital frames at Beijing Capital International Airport’s new Terminal 3.

AirMedia will deploy DT Research Intel-based WebDT SA3000 digital-signage appliances at the terminal, first by the baggage claims and then at the entrances to the departure halls.

Vision Media Group becomes latest victim of crunch

British out-of-home operator Vision Media Group (VMG) last week suspended trading in its shares on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) as it prepared to go into administration.
